To Epilate, Shave or Wax?

Published by at 4:27 pm under Beauty, Grooming, Lifestyle, Technology

I dunno when I started being particular abt having a single strand of stray hair on my body. Except for my eyebrows, hands and hair on my head (duh!) I totally loathe the idea of having hair on my body. I think every women and girls out there should groom themselves to a certain level that they wouldn’t be the centre of unwanted or unnecessary attention. And they should start as soon as they reach puberty if they could afford it.

I am obsessed abt being very “neat”. This is where epilating, shaving and waxing comes into the picture. I shall not go into nitty-gritty details abt my own personal hygiene but to share abt the products and services that are available out there.

Flawless and smooth skin are the envy of every women and girls but still I do not know how some women (mostly chinese – the ones I’ve seen so far: no racial discrimination here) can go ard exposing their pit hair or even worse; when they go swimming and wear their swimsuit or bikini they expose an even more unsightly view of pubic hair.

There are so many products and services which caters to our grooming needs. For men, we have obviously the shaver and electric shaver (how boring can they get?). Whereas, for us ladies, we’ve got the epilator, shaver, wax and even laser to help do miracles on us. Now, with so many options to choose from; women definitely do get confused.

My personal favourite is the epilator of course. Though a bit pricey, I find that they are worth the investment compared to monthly waxing appointments with my “personal hygienist”. Unlike shaving which makes hair grow coarser each time, epilating and waxing are almost similar. They make hair appear finer aft each session and aft long term use hair might not re-grow back as both epilating and waxing removes hair from the roots.

The epilator is like an electric tweezer. Initially it was painful and and I could see red bumps on my legs but aft awhile the red bumps will become invisible. Waxing does the same too. However… epilating is a better alternative then waxing. This is because waxing is time consuming as first you need to set an appointment and on top of that you pay an average of S$50 monthly and don’t forget your travelling time and transport fare to waxing parlours. Whereas, the epilator, though hefty at first, you only pay an average S$140 one time when you purchase it at any electronics store but then you’re able to use it monthly at no extra cost.

Therefore, I strongly recommend that each girl and woman should get themselves an epilator set. If we can bear the pain of giving birth what’s a few minutes of hair plucking torture. Hehe…

I think all men should remove their armpit and pubic hair too for hygeine purposes.
