The gang (Irfan, Imran, Firdaus, Fairoz, Irfaan, Azima) decided to catch Cloverfield last Saturday. We caught the 7.15pm show at GV Tampines. And OH MY GOD!!! I certainly have a review for it.

Firstly, am not gonna spoil the show or anything like that. Cloverfield (producer J.J. Abrams and directed by Matt Reeves) is basically about a group of people having fun in New York when things starts to get a lil nasty. Aliens decided to crash their party or to be precise crash into New York City to have a little fun of their own. The show is indeed exciting with cool monsters, good acting, wonderful special effects and a high tempo fast pace action movie. The plot is simple yet so devastatingly scary (what would you do if you were attacked by Aliens?) and goes about on how they cope with the invasion.

 A WORD OF WARNING!!!

This movie will turn off a lot of people. Why u ask? It’s cause they have decided to use a lil old movie trick back in the 90′s simply known as The Blair Witch Project. Yes people, it’s back. Get ready for the shaky camera, heavy pantings, camera angles from a person’s view, sudden movements. However, (unlike the piece of crap from Blair Witch where u only saw twigs, leaves and mucus dripping from a person’s nose) you will get to see tonnes of cool monsters with awesome styles to kill it’s prey (basically You!). Watch closely for the hospital scene when one of the gang gets bitten, it sure is gonna be a head turner.

By the time the movie ended, half of the people had already walked out of the cinema unable to take the dizzying scenes being played in front of their eyes. Now I understand why others have vomitted after watching this movie. A suggestion : Just close your eyes when it gets too dizzy! Trust me, looking up & down or left & right doesn’t help at all.

I had to remain seated and calm myself down even though the movie had ended. Just watching the credits playing down relaxed me a lot. Even now, just thinking back about the scenes is already causing me a headache and my stomach is already churning. If you have motion sickness, PLEASE DON’T WATCH THIS MOVIE! And DON’T GET POPCORN AND DRINKS! You’re gonna throw them all out while watching it.

Overall, Go Watch IT! IT’s fun especially with a group of friends, your gonna have lots of theories on what will you do if Aliens attacked! (I would have blown them to smithereens!!!) I loved the show though just try to handle the motion sickness a wee bit (You can try taking motion sickness pills before the show. Haha! Just a thought!)

Storyline : 2/5 (Just SURVIVE!)

Special Effects: 4/5 (The monsters are cool and sadistic; utterly believable)

Acting : 4/5 (I still cant understand how can they act when there’s nothing there. Bravo to the actors!)

Overall : 4/5 (Brilliant movie, fun to watch. Seems to me like a Halo game! Bring a plastic bag just in case.)
