Vantage Point

So how was everyone’s Good Friday? Hope it was “GOOD”! Hehe. Sorry, couldn’t help it. Well, i was damn glad to have had a nice long weekend though examinations are looming around the corner. Oh well! Haha. Nurul and I enjoyed ourselves by catching an action packed thriller for this weekend. The moment i caught the trailer, i knew i wanted to catch it. Nurul, though not an avid fan of action pack movies, certainly wanted to watch it. Why you ask? Cause it had her heart-throb Dennis Quaid. She squealed in excitement upon learning her favourite actor role.

VANTAGE POINT

What you see isn’t necessarily the true picture. Never entirely believe what you have been told. Even if it’s something that you have seen with your very own eyes. Vantage Point begins with a groundbreaking World Congress coming together to sign an Anti-Terrorist summit in beautiful Spain. You begin with the news broadcasters point of view ( basically what the world will see) on the occasion. Unfortunately, an Anti-Terrorist summit must certainly attract a Terrorist Attack. What more but the Assassination of The President of the United States of America. As the events unfold upon our eyes and the world, unknowingly, a different story is unfolding behind the scenes which shall only be revealed to us in the latter parts of the the show. Deception, betrayal, kidnapping, loyalty, trust, compassion, hope and love are themes of the movie. Watch as the assassination plot unfold in the eyes of 8 different people having different roles in the assassination plot. Of course, the main hero of the day will be Dennis Quaid as the President’s Bodyguard.

It’s certainly an action packed movie. First time that i have seen Nurul literally sitting up straight at the edge of her seat and kept jumping out of her seat due to the multiple explosions. The movie is exhilarating as you are astounded with the plot as the truth unfolds with different characters. You keep questioning yourself why is this character here and for what role do they play. The only irritating part of the show is watching the assassination plot unfold 6 times as each characters perspective position while the President’s being shot. Learn how to overlook it and trust me the movie will be great for you.

Ratings:

Special Effects : 3/5 ( The explosions are cool. The weapons will blow you away too.)

Plot : 5/5 ( The plot is thrilling and unexpected!)

Overall : 4/5 ( Catch it, exciting, stimulating and fun. What more can you ask than none stop action?)

Spring’s must have!

This Spring, floral is in. And with Spring comes all the lovely dresses and pretty outfits. My favourite and a must have for this season is this dress from Mango.

This floral printed long dress cost a whopping S$255.

I’ve just recently spent S$330 on a tailored black kebaya with embroidery (for my cousin’s wedding in april) and there goes without saying any chance of me getting this dress.

Well, all I can do now is hope and pray that when the end-of-season sale arrives, this dress is still in stock with my size and at half the price. For now.. I will make do with just admiring it everytime I step into Mango.

Pen Perfection

Drawing the perfect eyeline on your upper eyelids is never easy. Especially if you have small eyes like mine. But once you get that perfect line, it instantly opens up your eyes and makes it look more alluring.

Now, maintaining the eyeliner is another thing. For oily eyelids like mine, kolh or crayon or other type of non-waterproof eyeliner tends to smudge, and in less than an hour i’ll have panda eyes. Whereas, liquid eyeliner is just messy because of my very shaky hands.

I’m an avid reader of beauty, fashion and lifestyle women’s magazines and eventhough I lag in the beauty department delivering up-to-date information, I believe this is one of those beauty 411 informations that we all need.

Flipping through Teens or Teenage (i don’t remember which. And NO I don’t read these magazines. My younger sisters do.) I saw a short write up on Pen Eyeliners from The Face Shop and I was totally intrigued by it. Pen eyeliners would be a perfect addition to my series of eye makeup as I’ve very unstable hands. So, before I knew it I was heading down to Bugis Junction’s The Face Shop outlet. To my dismay, the shop was closed for some annual dinner function, however, sitting next to it was Missha (another Korean brand makeup store). Knowing that similar branding makeup store carry almost the same products, I tried my luck. Lucky me Missha sold a pen eyeliner (The Style Perfect Pen Eyeliner) and without hesitation I bought it.

I’ve been using the pen eyeliner for quite awhile now and it’s easier then using the liquid eyeliner. I hope the pen eyeliner will provide me with practise skills that will be useful once I decide to go back to using liquid eyeliner. The drawback on pen eyeliners is that I can never tell when the ‘ink’ will run out on me.

Oh and another thing, just after I bought my Missha pen eyeliner, I found out that In2It from Watsons carry a similar eyeliner at a cheaper price. Urgh! More research must be done before I settle for a new makeup item.

Here is a list of pen eyeliners available here in Singapore:

  • In2It Long Wearing Eyeliner Pen retails at S$9.10, available at Watsons.
  • Canmake Pen Eyeliner at S$10.90 also available at Watsons.
  • Missha The Style Perfect Pen Eyeliner (S$11.90)
  • The Face Shop Easy Brush Eyeliner (S$19.90)

Enjoy trying on these new products girls.
