Just Another Mascara

I love mascaras and I guess people around me would have noticed that already. My lashes are not as perfect as Fai’s but than it is still envied by most girls (ok2 I guess you’re all tired of my self-proclaimed perfect lashes. Hehe..)

Anyways.. there is a new mascara in town. With Penelope Cruz as the ambassador of this new mascara, there is bound to be much hype about it. L’Oreal Paris just introduced their latest range of mascaras. Telescopic. The Telescopic mascara actually comes in 3 different types. Telescopic, Telescopic Clean Definition and Telescopic Carbon Black. In Singapore however, we only have the Telescopic Clean Definition. Unfortunate for us Singaporean girls.

L’Oreal Paris Telescopic Clean Definition mascara combines the flexi brush with a smooth, lengthening formula to provide a mascara that lengthens and magnifies lashes one by one. The brush head features 168 elastomer teeth which coat even the finest lashes smoothly. The formula contains a positive charge adhi-plus polymer, which allows the mascara to take hold and extend right to the tip of the lash. A new adhesive and flexible contouring polymer instantly moulds to lashes to lengthen them. So much technical beauty jargon and yet the mascara couldn’t perform to my standard.

Besides the fact that this mascara is easy to use, my lashes looked exactly like how it was before I apply them. There is however another positive trait to this mascara, it definitely lives up to its clump free status. The L’Oreal Telescopic Clean Definition Mascara retailing at S$19.90 is available at most major department stores and your nearest Watsons.

A Happy Ending

Eight years is a long wait. Finally, the day came together with lots of lights, camera, glamour, happiness as well as sadness. Last saturday was the solemnization and union of my dearest cousin Kak Raudhah and her partner Abg Aziz.

I remember vaguely when my cousin first introduced Abg Aziz to the family back in 2000 during Eid. How time flies. Their relationship wasn’t at all smooth sailing all the way but they stood the test of time. The last couple of days proved that it was worth the wait.

The last few days was not only chaotic but tiring. My cousin’s long process of becoming a beautiful bride took almost 3 hours. The transformation was absolutely stunning (thanks to Kak Rita from Putri Mas) that even the groom was dumb founded. When my cousin first said that she picked Putri Mas for all her deco and outfits, I wasn’t really impressed. Never did I expect that they surpassed my expectations.

Awfully Chocolate

Recently, we celebrated my mom’s 5oth Birthday. This year, since I’m on tight budget (I’ve already spent nearly $300 for my cousin’s upcoming wedding) I decided to just get my mom a cake sans the gifts. Instead of typically heading to Prima Deli, Angie’s Choice or Secret Recipe to get the cake, I went to AWFULLY CHOCOLATE. Yeaps! You read it right. AWFULLY CHOCOLATE. ;)

I ventured out to Katong Mall together with Fairoz for the first time (YES!! It was our first time to Katong Mall) to get the cake. The cake shop looked so simple and bare that at first, I thought there was no more cakes available or I should have made an order over the phone or something. The young salesgirl who served us however said that there was no need and there was cake available for immediate take away. I was delighted at the thought that I will not reach home empty handed.

There are alcoholic and non alcoholic cakes available at the shop and obviously we picked the non alcoholic cake. Now, between the non alcoholic cakes, there are 2 flavours. Chocolate Banana and All Chocolate.

Awfully Chocolate

This got me deliberating over what flavour to choose for quite awhile. I’ve tried Chocolate Banana and I think it has an acquired unique taste which I totally think my mom would fall in love with. On the other hand, I’ve not tried the All Chocolate and since my mom is a certified CHOCOLATE LOVER, this was the perfect cake for her. My only concern about the All Chocolate was that its too rich and thick in chocolate that after just one slice you will begin to loathe it. Well.. Fortunately for me, Fai and the salesgirl helped me in my dilemma. I end up walking home with the All Chocolate.

My mom’s 6 inch All Chocolate birthday cake cost me only S$25.80 whereas the Chocolate Banana of the same size is S$28.20. A pretty good deal for a cake that looks devilishly delicious. On top of that, the All Chocolate cake is light, delicious and addictive.
