Malaysia’s Petrol Ban Effective 9 June

Well people. I just got back from Johor Bahru. And, oh my God. IT was JAM! The jam began all the way even before the Woodlands Avenue 3 exit on BKE. Lucky for me, instead of continuing with the BKE, i exit at Ave 3 and head for the back route to JB. Unfortunately, others had the same idea too. It left me waiting there for around 1& 1/2 hrs. Many Singaporeans went over as most were afraid that the Petrol Ban will take into effect tomorrow as it has been reported in the papers. However, when i reached at the Petronas Petrol Kiosk, the lady there informed me that the Prime Minister of Malaysia Abdullah Badawi had made a press conference on TV3 regarding about the petrol ban.

There i was thinking that today was gonna be a great day. How wrong I was when all I had to do was open the Straits Times and read page 4 of it’s main section.

I stared at it in shock and disbelief as i had always perceived the actions to be taken were either an entrance levy or a lower subsidy. A ban was something that I hadn’t imagined. Malaysia is doing this as a temporary stop gap solution to cut escalating inflation prices.

Disciplinary Action on Mas Selamat by DPM Wong Kan Seng

It has been 58 days since February 27th, the day Mas Selamat escaped from Whitley Road Internal Security Department (ISD) Detention Centre. I am still amazed and yet fearful that we have not been able to uncover and apprehend the detainee Mas Selamat. Still, checks must still be maintained as we cannot let our guard down cause there is still a possibility that Mas Selamat is still in Singapore. Though highly unlikely. However, disciplinary actions have been meted out today to members that have been found guilty with the escape of Mas Selamat.
