The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

I first fell in love with The Chronicles of Narnia when they first released The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe back in 2005.

I remembered my mom telling me that she had read the book by C S Lewis when she was much younger and how excited she was to catch the movie, I was of course not as excited as her when the movie came out. I just thought that since the huge success of Harry Potter, more fantasy movies have started popping out and that the essence of fantasy was getting over-rated. However though, I wasn’t going to be the one left behind when the whole troop (my mom and sisters) head out to GV Tampines to catch The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Throughout the whole movie, I was at the edge of my seat and was in awe every time Aslan (The Lion) spoke. At the end of the movie, one line kept playing in my head for the next few days, “For Narnia and for Aslan!” And of course, I had to drag Fai to catch The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe the following weekend for the second time.

After almost three years, the next installation of The Chronicles of Narnia is finally coming to our shore. The fourth book, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is set one year after the Pevensie children return from their little adventure in Narnia (1,300 years in Narnian time), they are once again magically whisked away to a beach near an old and ruined castle. They soon discover that the ruins are Cair Paravel, where they once ruled as the Kings and Queens of Narnia. They soon heard the tale of Prince Caspian and set out to help him gain his rights as the true king of Narnia. Along the way, they were once again guided by Aslan.

When the trailers and posters of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian first shown in our local cinemas, I was super excited! I told Fai that we have to watch the movie once it is out but not before I finished reading the first and third installation of The Chronicles of Narnia; ‘The Magician’s Nephew’the story of how Narnia was found and built, and ‘The Horse and his Boy’this story is set during the reign of the Pevensie children. Now, having finished those two books, I can’t wait to feast my eyes on Prince Caspian. I just love how technology can bring all that magic to life. It is also an added advantage that Prince Caspian is the 26-year-old drop dead gorgeous Ben Barnes.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is all set to appear in our cinemas on Thursday, 29 May 2008. Until then, check out the Pevensie children and Prince Caspian on this link http://www.fighttosavenarnia.com.sg.

P.S. My favourite Pevensie is Edmund and if you’ve read the book, you will love him too. King Edmund the Just.
