Well people. I just got back from Johor Bahru. And, oh my God. IT was JAM! The jam began all the way even before the Woodlands Avenue 3 exit on BKE. Lucky for me, instead of continuing with the BKE, i exit at Ave 3 and head for the back route to JB. Unfortunately, others had the same idea too. It left me waiting there for around 1& 1/2 hrs. Many Singaporeans went over as most were afraid that the Petrol Ban will take into effect tomorrow as it has been reported in the papers. However, when i reached at the Petronas Petrol Kiosk, the lady there informed me that the Prime Minister of Malaysia Abdullah Badawi had made a press conference on TV3 regarding about the petrol ban.

In his public statement, he had this to say
“Foreigners will definitely have to pay the full price when we make the announcement and (when we) enforce it immediately,” he told a press conference in Parliament here yesterday.
According to the lady at the petrol kiosk, the government petrol ban is Not going to take effect anytime soon until they have sorted the details. It is most likely that it will take effect from 9 June onwards. She was kinda worried as she believed if the ban takes effect, she along with the rest of the workers will be out of a job.
It gives me a breath of respite as I am still able to spend my heavenly and cheap “makans” across the border and especially able to still buy cheaper petrol and groceries. However, this dream will be coming to an end. My advise to fellow SIngaporeans, since its the school holidays, take advantage of this opportunity and head on down to JB to enjoy yourselves before the petrol ban takes into effect.
