The things I’d do to catch Lewis

What can I say about this brilliant young man that has taken the Formula 1 stage by storm with his exuberance, style and composure as he drives and beats his older and far more experienced challengers to the podium. Coming in as a relative unknown in the Formula 1 2007 Season, the “First Black Driver” impressed and confounded his critics by wining race after race only to be beaten by Kimi Raikkonen  by just a single point in the Championship Rankings. (The British driver is rumored to have Legendary USA athlete Carl Lewis as the inspiration to his name. Aptly named indeed!) However,  Lewis Hamilton is proud of his debut and has been burning the tracks this season with McLaren-Mercedes as he leads at the top of the Driver’s Championship Rankings with 70 points. The 23 year old is clearly determined as ever to win his first Formula 1 Championship and indeed I can’t wait for him to visit our lovely country Singapore to teach us a thing or two about how you should drive down the Marina Bay stretch pass Suntec City and Esplanade till the historical Padang.

September 26th seems like a long way and i really wish that I would have the privilege, honour and indeed  luck so that by some miracle I would be able to meet this Legendary Man. Haha. I am a little envious of my brother as he has already bought his F1 tickets a while back. Unfortunately though, i am kind of low on funds.  :(     I was thinking just the other day, with my devious creative mind, the things I would do to catch Lewis Hamilton. Here’s the list.

“The things I’d do to catch Lewis”

  1. Undergo plastic surgery to look exactly like him. Then, fly down to the U.K. to convince him and his family that I am his long lost brother that got lost in the hospital.
  2. “Borrow” my brother’s F1 tickets to at least catch Lewis in action on the tracks. I will return it next year. Promise…
  3. Disguise myself as an airport staff and kidnap Lewis Hamilton (ala Borat style) the moment he touch foot unto Singapore Changi Airport.
  4. Portray myself as a member of a Green Organisation and meet Lewis Hamilton as we intend for him to be our spokesman for promoting a “Green Earth”. He is such a swell guy, am sure he wouldn’t turn down meeting us?
  5. Write a thousand letters of praise and admiration for his perseverance, dedication and amazing skill.
  6. Partake in any competition which gives me the chance to meet Lewis Hamilton. Am already trying my luck out with Nescafe Catch Lewis If You Can at http://www.catchlewis.com
  7. Build my own Formula 1 Car & Racing Team. Then, offer & persuade Lewis the job to be number 1 driver for my team. Am sure he wouldn’t be able to resist it, i will build a super fast car you know! :)
  8. Learn car mechanics and engineering to land myself a job as a McLaren-Mercedes Pit Crew member. At least I will be able to meet him each time while i fix new tires for his racing car.
  9. Be a filthy rich Billionaire and pay millions of dollars to be able to have dinner with the friendly chap!
  10. Parachute down from the SIngapore Flyer and land onto his car during the Formula 1 Singapore Race. Hmm, now where to get that parachute?

Haha. The list can be endless. Well, some dreams do come true and some don’t. I will be keeping my fingers crossed hoping that my stars will align to bring great fortunes to be able to meet the amazing Lewis Hamilton. Haha. IF not, i will just train myself to be an excellent track driver and hopefully a team will accept me so that I will be an opponent to Lewis in the Formula 1. As they say, if you can’t join them then beat them. Hmm. Or was it the other way around? Haha. In any case, i will just be sitting in front of the television cheering him on for all of his races. Am gunning for Lewis to win it this year! Prove me right bro!
