US Presidential Elections 2008

The 44th President of the United States of America is

Barack Hussein Obama II.

To say that I am shocked would indeed be a surprising notion. I have been gunning for Obama and have always known that he shall be the next man to lead the United States of America. His charm, smile, charisma, youth and that fire in his eyes told me that he will be the strongest and most successful President  of which the world will ever see.  Initially, I had been supporting for Hillary Clinton as i was liking the notion of the first woman President. However, a far more stronger and yet relatively unknown candidate of African-American ancestry, coming from a tough childhood background, have literally came out of nowhere to sweep the whole nation, both Democrats & Republicans alike. You may thank Kerry for suggesting the idea to him but I would have probably guessed that this enginmatic Harvard lawyer & US Senator would be heading for top positons. He has won literally most of the states, being the first Democrat to have more than a 50% win ever since Jimmy Carter.

It is indeed an honour to have witnessed his victory speech as it was a momentous historic event passing by in front of our eyes. His speech alone called for Change! Change for the better. Change for Hope. Change that can be Believed in. His “Yes,  I Can!” speech is reminiscent of Dr. Mahathir’s “Malaysia Boleh” slogan. But indeed, he is a breath of fresh air that is similar to John F. Kennedy & Martin Luther King Jr. He was poised calm, strong, presidential & yet humble of the challenges to be faced ahead. I have to praise his Republican opponent Senator John McCain for his straight-forward & honest views, indeed a strong opponent that have  served his nation very well.

Overall, i believe Obama will lead the US into a great era of advancement that might even surpass Bill Clinton. The challenges that he has to face are by no means small. A financial crisis, 2 heavy wars & lots of rebuilding await for Obama. But i have hope & faith that he shall be able to solve these problems. Am already gleefuly awaiting for the stock markets to open cause am sure investors will certainly be buoyed by such strong positive news. Am sure that his election will stabilise the world markets & lead to better restructuring of the financial sector which has been dubious of late. Certainly, CHANGE HAS COME TO AMERICA!
