Desigual hails from the lands of the matador or Nurul’s favourite keeper Iker Cassilas. A unique & cool fashion which lies close within my heart.
Well, Nurul & i love shopping. And we are fanatics for cool, wacky designs that are able to bring class, texture & colour in comparison to the mundane, plain & single coloured clothes which has flooded into the fashion industry. Vivo City is indeed our favourite haunt as you have many fashion labels situated in an entire building. We were on our way to meet Zandy at her workplace (Crabtree & Evelyn) when we discovered that that Spanish section at Vivo has been taken over by two shops. One being Nat Geo & the other being Desigual!
Desigual hails from Spain and it origins can be thanked largely to Thomas Meyer whom imagined a Desigual Future whereby dressing differently in bold and original clothing of quality at accessible prices. Their motto simply exudes the company’s style : Desigual is never the same. Their garments are simply known to be creative, cool and committed to their vision of life & fashion.

AS one of their designer explained their fashion,
“Jeans full of details, crazy coats with thousand of buttons and T–shirts that spontaneously combine prints and patchworks are only a few of the sparkles of the collection. The most notable finishing are intensive shinning colliding with the rustic and opaque textures, fresh fabrics and messages promoting a binomial “ME AND YOU”
Well, i was certainly caught in bewilderment by the brash colours and designs. I just had to drag Nurul into the shop as my curiousity was being peaked with the audacity of their designs. I would have never thought that such a shop would have dared to open a concept store in Singapore. Especially filled with citizens who blindly follow labels & love to wear simple tee with Company Logo’s emblazoned on it. The one’s that will buy the same brown LV bag just because their friend has it.
I have to admit, I am impressed with Desigual. It had to take a designer with a warped mind to come up with such intricate & simply fascinating art pieces. Yes, i call them art pieces! This mish mash of materials, unusual placement that defy the norm is a trademark for their fashion. Nurul was in heaven with their dresses. So many colourful designs with their cuttings and material. An eye to behold indeed. However, to our dismay, the Singapore store betrays the company’s Desigual philosophy of providing affordable clothes. A single t-shirt can fetch up to $90 whereas dresses and jackets are priced around $200-$300 a piece. Affordable certainly it isn’t. Well, all we can hope for is a nice sale. Haha. Have a look at their designs. Enjoy.

I love Desigual and have been purchasing it in Belgium, Barcelona and also Singapore. Being a PR in Europe, the closest alternative to get the most out of Desigual is to fly to Barcelona for the latest collection!
I am a Singaporean and when returning to hometown recently, i am very surprised to find a shirt which i had purchased in Barcelona 2010 June is now in Singapore outlet as new arrival. I find that we Asians deserve the same rights as the Europeans and not for us to have the second best left over from your company. Why can’t we have different designs for each continent? I can imagine now that half dozen that i bought in Barcelona last June might just be the upcoming arrival in Singapore Market too!
Dear Desigual, Please note that WE Singaporeans love traveling to Europe so have some respect!
God Bless Desigual!
