BADOQUE

Published by FaiNur at 1:53 am under Lifestyle

Sorry once again for the long hiatus. Been busy at work with my FYP at Biopolis. But, Nurul (Yes, my dear fiancee) & I always hunger for great food. We are always on the lookout for new eateries that are certain to salivate our taste buds and leave us wanting for more.

As you all probably know, Nurul lives near Simpang Bedok. Yes, the heart of 24 hrs makan place with well known eateries like Spize & Mad Jack. However, there is recently a new shop that’s beginning to take the hearts of  Simpang Regulars! It’s a spanking new, hip & oh so refreshing Badoque.

Badoque

Badoque is situated in the inner parts of Simpang Bedok along the row with Mad Jack. Its a sophisticated eatery with a class of it’s own wacky sense of humour. Prepare to be enlightened by their Recession prices (Yes, they slashed them due to the economic downturn) Menus are littered with meals named as Si Tongkol & Wholly Cow. I have to say that many stars have visited the place. (Indeed, we me Aaron Aziz the other day with his wife)  Who wouldn’t? With their excellent decor, brilliant Western cuisines, sassy music & welcoming service; even i wouldn’t be surprised if they are visited soon by ministers.
When we arrived, the service staff was very warm & friendly, treating us as foreign dignatories. With the warm smiles & efficient response, we were guided through the courses that proved to be delightful. I kept changing my mind as to which course shall tastefully end up in my stomach. We finally chose Tartine ala Badoque as a starter & for our main course; the Wholly Cow Pizza was my choice while Nurul’s was the Chicken Kuzee.

The Tartine ala Badoque was a refreshing treat. Fresh prawns heavily sauteed with creamy white sauce & a soft yet crunchy sliced French loaf. It simply gave a twangy zest that made us begged for more. Going for only $4.50, it certainly is a steal.

Up next is the generous portion of Chicken Kuzee. As the staff said, a half chicken portion is the only way to ensure the meal achieves it’s deserved recognition. Cous Cous (a Meditaranean staple food) was a magnificent combination with zesty curry sauce that proved the mix to be a must try for any diner. The portion which can easily serve for 2 goes for only $14.50.

Last but not least, is this Man’s main course, a mouth-watering thin crust wholsome home-made style pizza. The Wholly Cow is topped with cheese, olives & a whole lot of pizza. Retailing at $15, the pizza is able to be shared by 2. The uniqness of this meal is that it tastes so home made. Like how my mom used to make her pizzas. Crusty thin slices that is packed with cheese and meat. Stuffed will only be on your mind once your done with this meal.

Ratings

Ambience 4/5 ( Plush decor, brilliant lighting & soft sassy music to put you in the right mood)
Service 5/5 (Excellent, efficient & friendly. A class act. Always welcoming!)
Food 4/5 (A refreshing mix, especially as they continually improve their menus. It’s been Menu no. 4 already!)
Overall 5/5 (MY current FAVOURITE Haunt! Away from the crowds, great food & wonderful service!)

Do give Badoque a try at least once in your life. An excellent place to spend with your loved ones! Brilliant especially for momentous occasions. And oh BY the WAY, they do NOT charge any GST or SERVICE CHARGE. Although, i would gladly leave a tip for their great effort. Badoque, simply a touch of class.

Wow. I’m drooling already. I’m so jealous that Nurul lives so near Simpang Bedok. I really need to move to the Eastern part of Singapore because here in the West there is hardly any awesome food places around… Sobs.
