He’s just not that into you…
Are you the exception or are you the rule?
Haha. How many times have i heard a lady said that? Unfortunately, we men will never ever hear such words uttered to us. It’s a delightful movie that bears many truths about relationships. So please, anyone who is single or in a relationship, please do catch this movie. Hehe. I promise you that it will tickle your senses about love.
My dear fiancee and I caught this show at Shaw Bugis just the other day. It’s a delightful movie which teaches the truth about men. Although, I would love if they made a movie She’s just Not that Into You! Haha, well you can’t have everything now can you. Trust me women, I am a guy! We Men are easy to read. What they say about men in this movie is the TRUTH! IF we really like you, you will know. Unlike you gals, which honestly leave us tripping like Edward Cullen feels whenever he tries to read Bella Swan. It also carries another line. Are you the exception or are you the rule? Example is if a guy is in a 7 year relationship with you. If you are the exception, he will finally pop the question & marries you. However, not everyone is the exception, thus if you are the rule(majority) then he will never ever everrrr marry you. Sorry, it just means that he’s just not that into you to marry you.
He’s just not that into you is based on the New York Times bestseller self-improvement book “He’s just not that into you” written by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo and published in 2004. The book was actually inspired by an episode of Sex and the City titled “Pick-A-Little, Talk-A-Little.” For that epsiode, Miranda asks Carrie’s boyfriend, Jack Berger, to analyse the post-date behavior of a potential love interest. Because the date declined Miranda’s invitation to come up to her apartment after their outing, stating that he has an early meeting, Berger concludes, “he’s just not that into you,” adding, “When a guy’s really into you, he’s coming upstairs, meeting or no meeting”
Plot
The plot revolves around the romantic misadventures of nine individuals. Basically, each person loves another person, leaving themselves wanting for more. You have Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin), a young woman who repeatedly misinterprets the signs that men give her. After a rejection from Conor (Kevin Connolly) whom himself is chasing a failed love interest Anna (Scarlett Johansson), Gigi begins getting dating advice from the sexually promiscuous Alex (Justin Long), the manager of a bar and a friend of Conor’s.
Gigi’s co-worker Janine (Jennifer Connelly) is having difficulties in her marriage. Her husband, Ben (Bradley Cooper), begins cheating on her with Anna, a yoga instructor & aspiring singer. Anna receives romantic advice from Mary (Drew Barrymore), a newspaper editor who helps Conor promote his real-estate business. Gigi’s other co-worker, Beth (Jennifer Aniston), is living with her “Marriage Phobia” boyfriend Neil (Ben Affleck), who is friends with Ben.
Performance
A good performance of nine individuals with different characteristics & personalities. Simply exciting & you do see yourself in each of the different characters. Frankly, I love Ginnifer Goodwin’s acting. Haha. It certainly reminded me of a few women that I have dated. Whereby, each gesture a guy makes is fully read as a sign that the guy is into you. I also feel for Conor, the sympathetic guy that keeps hoping the girl will come back to him. Haha. I have been in his position a couple of times too myself, it’s not fun at all to be the “friend”. Then there is Alex which I think every guy wishes to be except me. Trust me, a relationship without your 100% love is not worth it. But I am impressed with Justin Long’s performance. He certainly is climbing up the ladder from Die Hard 4.0 to this alluring performance as a playboy. Let’s see if he is able to challenge his buddy’s achievements, Shia Labeouf. I have to admit Scarlett Johansson certainly got my pulse pumping with her sweet seduction. You do pity Bradley Cooper as he certainly was an honest & loyal husband till he met her. However, I am deeply surprised with how thin Jennifer Connellly has become. She certainly was still able to carry the melodramatic scenes from days of Hulk & A Beautiful Mind. However, it wasn’t that poignant as we weren’t able to fully immerse into her relationship. Finally, I truly loved Jennifer Aniston & Ben Affleck’s relationship. Is this how it is with John Mayer for Jennie? Hehe. Well their relationship reminded of mine with Nurul. A couple that truly connects with each other.

Fun Quotes
Alex: If a guy treats you like he doesn’t give a sh*t, it’s because he doesn’t give a shit.
Mary: I had this guy leave me a voicemail at work, so I called him at home, and then he emailed me to my BlackBerry, and so I texted to his cell, and now you just have to go around checking all these different portals just to get rejected by seven different technologies.
Mary: It’s exhausting.
Gigi: I would rather be like that, then be like you.
Alex: Excuse me? What’s that supposed to mean?
Gigi: I may dissect each little thing and put myself out there so much but at least that means that I still care. Oh! You’ve think you won because women are expendable to you. You may not get hurt or make an ass of yourself that way but you don’t fall in love that way either. You have not won. You’re alone. I may do a lot of stupid shit but I’m still a lot closer to love than you are.
Gigi: Hey sorry to bug you again! Uh quick question.
Alex: What’s going on?
Gigi: Ok I’m making out with this guy, PG stuff. but he mentions he’s going out of town so he’s gonna be out of touch.
Alex: Run.
Gigi: But maybe he is going out of town.
Alex: To where? New Guinea? Where’s he gonna be that he’s gonna be out of touch?
Gigi: Opens bathroom door – Where are you going out of town to again?
Gigi: Pittsburgh
Alex: Run.
Gigi: So what now I’m just supposed to turn from every guy who doesn’t like me?
Alex: Uh. Yeah!
Gigi: There’s not gonna be anybody left.

P.S. Do read my other review Valkyrie

a) i think e rule after having a 7 year relationship is to get married, not e other way aroung. in jennifer n ben’s case, they were e exception, just a negetive exception, depending on where a person stands on e norm.
b)i think it was a little too romanticly linked. n e initial part of trying to link all e relationships together was a pain in e arse.
c) U’VE DATED OTHER WOMEN?!?!?!?!?!?
SINCE FREAKING WHEN?!?!?!?!?
hahahahaha
u being Conor, i believe.
n mind u, i found Alex very akind to myself. only because he is very observant, predicts outcomes that are often true. though u know very well that in terms of relationships, i am nowhere near his character.
Nur: Irfan, Fai’s dated other women before. When he was in rebound mode for abt a yr. He was also on a dating spree not caring abt other girls feelings.. One girl even wrote poems for him.. (FYI – not me.. I’ve nvr been good with rhymes).
Fai: Haha. Damn the beans have been spilled.
Hmm, i believe the 7 year marriage is a rule in Spore context. However, i think in US context, it is the exception. I also wished for more character development. Haha, I know you’re Alex. You can see the signs. But unlike Alex, you put in your heart and soul in every relationship.
