I bought this month’s Simply Her because its been awhile since I update myself with the latest beauty and fashion trends. Apart from that, I’ve always been an avid reader of women’s magazine.
I love checking out the pretty and cute items writers have sourced out for their readers. And this time around, I decided to try out one of their makeup tutorials for Spring.
Contour and contrast

Steps:
- Apply highlighter on areas where the light hits your face, like the browbones, cheekbones, nose bridge and the centre of the chin.
- Use a bronzer or brown-toned blusher to shade under the cheekbones and along the jawline.
- Rim all around the eyes with brown eyeshadow and apply two coats of mascara.
- Slick on neutral lipstick and top it off with a touch of gloss – Lips shouldn’t be high-shine or shimmery.
Honestly, by far, this is one of the easiest makeup tutorial I’ve followed. I had to improvise a step or two but I think the outcome is close to what was featured in the magazine.
This is what I use for my face. Bear in mind that it is the recession, makeup used might be from previous seasons. It’s the only ones I have now. Hehee..
- Liquid foundation – Clinique Supermoisture Makeup #66
- Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free Face Powder in Natural
- Thin Lizzy 6 in 1 Profession Powder (Light) – Product of New Zealand (Best used if you want an effect of a slimmer and sharper face)
- The Body Shop Sun Lustre Bronzer in Radiant Blush
- MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush in Peachtwist
- Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow Limited Edition 10 shade palette – Brown
- Thin Lizzy Eyeliner – Brown
- CoverGirl LashBlast – Black
- Sally Hansen Lip Inflation in Sheer Blush
Whoah! That’s a long list. Hehehee..

I love how beautiful the cheeks look. I really want to buy an illuminator from the body shop. Have you heard about it? Worth buying?
Love your blog, your beautiful
Nur: Aawww!! U’re so sweet Amy. Thanks! I did not buy any illuminator from Body Shop but I did bought one of their limited edition blusher/bronzer. The packaging was so pretty I couldn’t resist not getting it. But over all, it wasn’t tat bad tho. I used it in this picture as well.
