Acne Aid Cleansing Bar

Ever since I stopped taking oral medications for my back acne (bacne), pimples on my back started resurfacing. Its bad enough to have pimples on my face and now my back as well?! It was definitely disgusting. Even I myself find it utterly disgusting. And here I am announcing to the rest of the world that I suffer from bacne. Thank goodness I’m covered up most of the time so noone would notice it.

Anyways, I’ve tried several remedies to curing my bacne. I took homeopathy medication, used cleanser with mineral contents all the way from the famous Dead Sea even soap with sulphuric mineral properties from the land of the kiwi but nothing seemed to work!

After searching high and low, I decided to try out the newly opened local pharmacy NTUC Healthcare at Eastpoint Mall. There, a variety of soap bar was on display. Confused, I sought the help of the sales person. After explaining to her my beauty woes, she introduced Acne Aid Cleansing Bar by Stiefel Laboratories to me.

The word Acne Aid definitely jumps at me. But the simple packaging and super affordable price tag of $9.50 makes me question the credibility of the product. I was afraid that like all other products it’s not going to work. On top of that, I was afraid that it would irritate my skin and enhance the acne.

This is what the packaging had to say about the product:

Acne Aid Bar is a balanced blend of a gentle degreasing agent and an effective synthetic cleanser that helps cleanse the skin gently and thoroughly. Due to its highly effective cleansing power, it is very useful in acne and oily skin conditions.

Ingredients:

Sodium Palmate, Sodium Palm Kernelate, Water, Decyl Glucoside, PPG-10 Methyl Glucose Ether, Glycerin, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Hydroxide, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate

The sales person also assured me that since it is fragrance free, its bound to work. Amazingly, it helped alleviate my bacne problem. I’ve been using it as part of my daily shower routine for the last couple of weeks now. In fact, I’ve traded it with my Dettol shower gel.

I think I might have found my bacne cure and can stop relying on oral medications.

Found this blog by searching for Acne-Aid. I needed to place a refill order. Just a quick FYI….you can find it cheaper and it IS worth it. Have used it for about 15 years. You used to be able to have your local pharmacy order it, but it’s not that easy anymore. I haven’t found anything as good as this stuff. Try it out!!

Acne-aid soap bar can be found almost in any pharmacy in Malaysia. I suffer from moderate acne in my teenage yrs. I’ve already use it for > 10yrs now. Nothing else works for me accept this product (others just worsen my acne). I apply Johnson’s Clean & Clear toner after washing then apply Acne-aid cream on affected area. My skin looks great. Unfortunately for me this year i suffer from really bad & painful cystic acne due to the chemotherapy drugs. Lucky for me Acne-aid still does wonders. It’s now under control. Too bad there’s no more Acne-aid liquid & cream in the market. Personally i just love Acne-aid products. My saviour..

  18. Jay says:

I used to take oral medication due to the excessive acne problems and after I stopped it keeps coming back, so I’ve started using this for a few days. I feel like my face is cleaner and softer. Anyway, it still leaves some acnes in my face and I’m just hoping it would disappear soon so that I can start putting on makeup again.

good day everyone. i also wanna share my good experience with acne aid bar. i’ve been using it for few months now and im satisfied with its results. before i got lots of pimples on my face, chest, and back but since i started using this soap my face is almost clear now and my body acne are all dried up. amazing. i buy it for 170 php. please try this soap, it’s better than any other soap i’ve ever tried. btw, i’m from the philippines.

  30. snow says:

@iambf : can u share what the steps u use it by, did u use cold or hot water, or did use bodyscrub before using the soap or u just use the soap on its own when showering, please share some tips :D

  31. FaiNur says:

    Hi Snow!

Hope you enjoy reading our blog. I use the soap as part of my shower. I replaced it with my normal shower gel. All I did was use a loofah, wet it and scrub it on the bar and then it goes on my body as a normal shower gel.

    ~Nur~

  32. iambf says:

hi snow, i just use the soap on it’s own. i don’t use body scrubs or anything else, just the soap alone. i sometimes change soap but keeps on coming back using acneaid. i don’t even use moisturizer after coz my face is already oily and the soap doesn’t dry out my skin. has anybody tried the panoxyl soap free cleanser? i heard its also good but haven’t tried it yet.

  33. ernie says:

i’ve been using acne aid 3 days now. i find it really effective. my skin becomes smooth and no breakouts. what i love about acne is the smell and the soft feeling after use. i also used rosehips oil for my acne marks. give it a try. no harm !

  34. Natalia says:

I had really bad acne and went to a dermatologist and she prescribed the soap..I didn’t even need antibiotics.. Just the soap and 5% benzyl peroxide gel.
I have used it for 3 months now and the results are awesome! My skin is all cleared up and i get 1 or 2 zits only that don’t stay so long. The soap is gentle and good for sensitive skin..i’d recommend it to any one with acne issues or really oily skin.
Now the only thing i have to deal with is the acne dark spots that remained but they’re slowly fading away..
