P.S. I Love You

Published by under Lifestyle

Valentines came and went. In a blink of an eye, there are no more roses, chocolates and candies selling at ridiculous marked-up prices. We celebrated our Valentines a day later as I could only manage to get leave on the 15th instead of the 14th.

Our “Valentines” date started out with an eventful dramatic morning with a HUGE fight over petty issues (oh oh! there goes the beautiful date!). However, we manage to met out our differences and still had a wonderful day ahead.

While still slightly sulking from our fight, we decided to catch P.S. I Love You as planned. The movie starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler (300) was based on the titular book written by Cecilia Ahern. Basically, the story is about a woman, Holly (Hilary Swank) learning how to move on with her life after the death of her husband, Gerry (Gerard Butler). The plot here may seem typical of such other romantic chic movie, however, Holly was being guided on how to move on with her life from her dead husband through his letters of encouragement which he prepared before his death.

Fai and I both really liked this movie as it pretty much depicts us. Both characters entirely dependent on each other. Since the character that died in the movie is the husband, it showed how his wife is coping without his presence in her life. And if the roles were reversed, it will be the wife guiding the husband through her letters.

Halfway through the movie, when Holly (Hilary Swank) said, “We do not have a clue to what we want exactly”, Fai went like, “OMG! That is so true.” LOL!

Watching the movie and reviewing our current relationship at the moment was like dejavu. It was like a movie about us except for the fact that we’re not married, Fai is not dead and our parents do not hate either of us.

Having not read the book first (it helps as I’ve no expectation of the movie), I must say I am very much impressed with both the author and the director for bringing to life such a wonderfully scripted book. The cast of the movie also played vital roles in displaying their emotions which managed to tug the strings of my heart. I was tearing through out the entire movie.

P.S. I Love You, reflected not only the essence of my relationship but also to many out there. And at the end of the day, I treasured the person next to me most for always being there for me.

To satisfy my next tear-jerker crave, I am definitely going to read the book written by the brilliant Cecilia Ahern (I’ve already read Where Rainbow Ends. WONDERFUL!)

RAMBO IV (M18) – Action, Blood and GORE!

Published by under Lifestyle

OH MY GOD!!!! This OLD MAN is back with a VENGEANCE!

Honestly, never thought i would ever catch another RAMBO movie in my time. (Although i did catch Rocky V the other time and i absolutely loved it. Inside, i was hoping they would make a Rambo IV. So happy they did. :)

This is the BOMB BABY!!!! If you want more blood, gore, action and kicking the ass of baddies then this is your movie. After they made another Die Hard movie 4.0, i guess Slyvester just didn’t want to be left behind from his failed Planet Hollywood business venture partner Bruce Willis. Went with the gang again (Firdaus, Irfan, Irfaan, Yuliana, Aerfi and my lovable Nurul) to catch it at GV Tampines.

After Cloverfield, i finally got my adrenaline pumping and my thirst for blood quenched in this movie. Trust me, if you’re a MAN then you will ABSOLUTELY LOVE Rambo 4. You can just ask Nurul, she hid down the chair and closed her eyes multiple of times. Especially when the farmer walked onto a mine and just blew up into a sea of Blood. YUMMY!

The movie is all about John Rambo continuing his isolation theory in Thailand catching snakes and just being a recluse. This was until a group of missionaries (can’t help but compare them to the group of Korean missionaries being caught in Iraq) sought out his help to bring them up river to enter Myanmar/Burma. (Don’t they know that the Myanmarese hate to be called Burmese!) As expected, missionaries got caught and thus John Rambo and a group of mercenaries set out to rescue them. Things to take note are the rapings, killings, violence and paedophilia nature presented. And oh yeah, Rambo killing all the baddies.

My favourite line is when John asks them what are they bringing to achieve democracy into Myanmar? They replied food, books and medicine.

Rambo replies ” Guns. Bring lots of it.”

Storyline : 4/5 (Original, relevant show with the current world issue)

Special effects : 5/5 (Bombs, deaths, bullets. I wonder if someone really died?)

Overall : 5/5

If you only have $10 to spare on movies this whole year, then catch Rambo IV. Am gonna catch it for a second time. BURN BABY BURN!

National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets

Published by under Lifestyle, Random

Well, Nurul and I went to catch an early show at GV Tampines. Despite it being crazily cold, indeed we caught an exciting non-stop action movie with my Mom’s favourite actor, none other than the brilliant Nicholas Cage.
National Treasure 2 : Book of Secrets
Basically, the show is about our dear hero, Ben Gates, going about clearing his family’s name which has been framed for the assassination of one of America’s beloved Presidents, President Abraham Lincoln. Honestly, the action is non-stop as you are not given time to relax or doze away. It moves quickly as you are faced with obstacles and challenges with puzzles that are intricately design with novel ways of solving them. You will never expect the audacity at which he goes about to achieve his goals and the ending though can be seen from a mile away, is still fun to watch. I give it 3.5/5.
Cant wait for the upcoming sequel. Hope there is one though. I guess it should be based on page 47 in the book.

This is an interesting read as it shows us the mentality and personal traits of Lincoln’s assassin.

And read this up, if your wondering if there is such a thing as a President’s Book of Secrets. Hehe. Its a nice explanation.
