Perfect SHAVING for MEN

Hey people!!! Well, am gonna start things off by writing the first post for our new blog! (I beat Nurul! Hehehe.) What more than dealing with issues of a man’s face. OR being more specific, a Man’s facial hair. Yes, that sensual rough texture that turns that boyish face into a rough and tough man. Whether it’s a stubble, moustache or a full beard; all men need to know how to shave their face well.
I only started shaving when i was in the Army. I still remember when my sergeant, 3SG Zahdan, came up to me and went like; “D’CRuzzzzz! What’s this hairrrr! (Tugging it tightly) Go shave or else i will shave more than just your face!”
It’s in my genes to have strong facial hair (indian blood) and it grows quite fast. A five o’clock shadow can be achieved in a couple of days. I try not to shave often as am afraid to cause it to grow longer. So i tend to grow a beard for around 3 weeks till i shave it off before it gets too itchy. (Nurul is also infuriated whenever i have beard. HaHA!) OR as what Shahrizman recently said, “Ape ni? Nak jadi macam Hugh Jackman ke?”
Anyways, lets get back to the main story. My philosophy is simple, i shave to prevent myself from having to shave as soon as possible. There are a number of shaving equipment which people are using nowadays. From electric shavers, to motorized manual shavers, to normal shavers and finally a blade.
I am using a normal Gillette Mach 3 TURBO shaver. A nice cut which is smooth and cool and gives one of the closest shaves. I don’t like using those mechanized shavers ( i heard it doesn’t give a clean shave and you have to keep shaving at one spot)
Typical routine is to put on my favourite cooling Gillette shaving cream for sensitive skin. Not too much but not too little or else it doesn’t give you the right balance to shave. Why? Please guys, put at least some soap or a shaving cream. You have to realise that you might cut your face and if your face is not clean, it might lead to infections by bacteria. This will lead to skin problems spreading over your face. So please, if you love your face, use at least soap. If you’re a Man’s man though, then you will be using the Gillette shaving cream. Hehe! It smoothens out the hair, giving a cool menthol effect that makes shaving heavenly.
Once applied evenly, use the shaver and shave in one smooth motion. IF you have a beard like mine, you may have to do it a couple of times to finally see your skin. Shave downwards and not upwards to prevent ingrown hair follicle formation. And ensure to maintain the smooth one action shave. Be careful to do it slowly around your chin area as it’s easy to cut yourself at the edges.
Once your face is totally hair free, wash it and finally place some after-shave lotion. I use an alcohol free one so it’s less stinging. Its important to apply as it closes your pores and cleans cuts that are present on your face. You will feel fresh as a daisy once your done shaving. Trust me, women love smelling her man after a shave. I know Nurul does. ;)
As you can see, am a Gillette man. Haha. This post is dedicated to the hairless people out there like Irfaan, Irfan and Azhari. May you guys one day have thick beards!

For Women with low pain threshold

I’ve been writing a bit about epilating and waxing quite some time ago. Now a new product is available at Watsons. The Kenassy Soft & Smooth Hair Removal Puff. Yes! You read it right, a hair removal puff.

(Heh! Only the Japanese will come up with such products)

The first hair removal puff which needs no cream application or water. This product here really caught my eyes and since I can’t stand the sight of hair, I thought I should give this new product a try. It is definitely very affordable retailing at only S$8.50.

I was feeling gleeful after my purchase. I thought to myself that IF this product works, no more ‘torturing’ myself with my epilator. Well, unfortunately for me, I wasn’t really satisfied with how the puff works. It took me quite sometime to know how the puff functions and by the time I could get hair off, my two arms were aching. Also, the puff doesn’t pull out hair like epilating or waxing. It simply “cuts off” the top just like a shaver.

At the end of the day, I have a mild stubble like feel from my legs (the BIGGEST turn off so far unless you have the patience to puff away your hair every other night). Not all women have high pain threshold (which is why some of us opt not to have children), this is a good a cheap alternative to shaving, waxing and epilating. It doesn’t last as long as hair removal creams, it is however slightly cheaper.

Eventhough epilating hurts at the beginning, I’m used to it and it is much more effective in keeping ugly unwanted hair at bay.
