Say YES to great skin.
Finding the right skincare for your skin type is very difficult. A lot of it depends on trial and error.
That’s exactly what I’ve been doing for the past couple of years, trying to find a product most suitable for me, by trial and error.
For me, I believe in cleanse tone and moisturise. So when I buy a certain brand, I usually buy three products at one go – cleanser, toner, and moisturiser.
Safe to say, many of these products fail for me. You see, I’ve been battling blemished skin for quite some time now. Having used various products, my skin is now thin and sensitive.
So, after reading various reviews about the Clinique 3-Step Skincare, I was quite intrigued.
Furthermore, Renee from BeautyFool swears by them and reckons I should give them a try.
It was already July and time was running out. I was desperate for wanting a perfect skin for my wedding.
So, I head down to a Clinique counter at Tangs, VivoCity. There, the consultant told me I have skin type II – dry/combination. And before giving me products that would suit my skin, I told him a little background about my skin – it’s thin, sensitive and tends to have tiny little breakouts during the time of the month.
After all that, he gave me the Clinique Liquid Mild Facial Soap, Clarifying Lotion 2 (Toner) and the Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel.
Clinique Liquid Facial Soap Mild (Cleanser)

I am already on my second bottle. That itself is a good sign that my skin is adapting well to this product.
The cleanser also didn’t give my skin any adverse reaction. It doesn’t sting and my skin does not feel tight after cleansing.
Also, on days when I do apply minimal make-up (two-way foundation powder and blusher), the cleanser is enough. Therefore, I can save my Fancl Mild Cleansing Oil, for full-on make-up (liquid foundation, eye shadow and the works) days.
Clinique Clarifying Lotion 2 (Toner)

This toner is also known for its exfoliating properties. It sweeps away dull flakes for a clearer and smoother skin. My skin definitely feels much smoother after using it. However, I don’t quite like that the toner has alcohol in it. On open wounds (I’ve itchy fingers and loves popping my pimples), it stings. But that’s also the good part – because alcohol kills bacteria.
The only downside of this toner is the strong smell of the alcohol. Another consultant at the Parkway Parade Clinique counter however, did recommend me the Clarifying Moisture Lotion instead. I might want to give that one a try once I’ve finished this bottle. But we’ll see how it goes.
Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel (Moisturiser)

Among the three products, this is definitely my favourite. I am using the gel version as opposed to the lotion. This is because I have a combination skin which is more to the oily side. Yes, oily skin too needs to be hydrated.
I love how it just glides all over my skin. According to Clinique.com – the Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion and Gel help provide the natural moisture balance needed for healthy skin.
This is definitely one moisturiser I will continue using for a looooonnnng time. My skin is smooth, supple and it stays hydrated for quite awhile. And it has last me since the time I bought it in July before my wedding.
Overall review
I think the Clinique 3-Step Skincare is a back-to-basics skincare and is especially good for someone who is just starting their facial regime (you know the cleanse-tone-moisturise regime).
I am also so much sold by it that even Fai has been convinced by me to get his own. Yup! He is currently using Clinique’s 3-Step Skincare System for Men.
So, what is your favourite 3-step skincare?
